Mimi Weddell (1915 - 2009)
I know this is officially "Turkey Weekend" in Canada, and I had intended for today's post to talk about something along those lines.
But... then I changed my mind. I decided to write about hats. (I probably have a global love of accessories - hats, shoes, purses, gloves and scarves ... things that aren't waistline dependent.) You see, I have a new hat. It is eggplant purple with a huge square buckle and a peaked brim. It is somewhat reminiscent of an upscale Poor Boy hat from the 60's (for those of you who go that far back). In short it is magnificent!
And somewhere along the line (you know how it goes) I ended up reading Mimi Weddell's obituary.
And of course this sent me into reflective thought about aging in general. And more specifically - my aging. I have always said that I wanted to live to be a 100 (at least). I know, I know - aging ain't for sissies. Things fall down and out, and ache and break. But what really fascinates me are those who despite these pitfalls, still manage to do it with class. And style. And grace and dignity. And some just decide to do it outrageously. And for those of us who want it all... welcome to Advanced Style. Enjoy!
